The Lord Does Not Countenance Evil 8/28/2022

Yet I Will Rejoice in the Lord: The Book of Habakkuk

After Habakkuk’s first complaint and cry for help, he is confused by God’s answer. He knows the Lord is eternal, sovereign, holy, trustworthy, and pure. How can God look favorably on the wicked Chaldeans and ordain them to exact judgment upon less wicked Judah? While Habakkuk’s understanding of God’s nature is correct, his understanding of God’s work in this situation is not. The Lord does not countenance evil in anyone, including the Chaldeans and the people of Judah.
