In Matthew 28:19, the command of the Great Commission is to make disciples. The salvation Christ came to provide is not a mere escape from judgment. Jesus frees us from the bondage of sin that we might have a relationship with Himself. One must come into the fold and submit to Christ as the Great Shepherd in order to be saved. This is confirmed by the fact that a disciple is one who is baptized into the name of the Triune God. In Scripture, we know God by His name which He reveals to His people.
