The Great Commission spells out the church's mission. But that mission is giving in the context of God's purpose which He has made known to us in the Scriptures. Human beings were created to image God. This is accomplished as we worship God and reflect His glory. This was modeled perfectly by Christ, our representative. This is why we are called to be His disciples, that we might be holy as He is holy.
