The church's emphasis of experience over doctrine and lack of spiritual discernment have combined with fallen humanity's penchant for pelagianism to weaken her stance on the Gospel. Many professing evangelicals today have embraced those who deny the pure Gospel of God in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself in favor of a works salvation (God will save "good" people regardless of their profession). However, the Apostle Paul warns that a Gospel of works is a perverted Gospel and is, in fact, no Gospel at all.
