We should find Christ's claim to "all authority in heaven and on earth," overwhelming. Jesus' words reflect many Old Testament assertions of divine authority where God is said to "do as He pleases." We should be overwhelmed by our Savior's power to "do as He pleases" without answering to anyone. But we should also be overwhelmed by "what pleases Him," the redemption of His people.
