Jesus chose to teach in parables. Christ's parables serve a dual purpose: to reveal spiritual truth to those whom God has given eyes to see and ears to hear, while simultaneously concealing truth from those who remain in willful blindness and rebellion. The sobering reality is that understanding spiritual truth is not a matter of human intellect or choice, but of divine sovereignty and grace. God grants understanding to His chosen people while confirming the unbelief of the self-righteous and rebellious.  While we cannot heal our own spiritual deafness and blindness, we can diligently seek the Lord, praying that He grant us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to perceive the truth.
